Shorov Has The First Medical Doctor In Tiv Land

Shôrov is a community from Buruku Local Government Of Benue State and they are comparatively, numerically the smallest community among her fellow Tiv clans in the local government like Kusuv, Mbagen, Tombo. Their numerical weakness is rather the strength. They are united, compassionate and hospitable.

They boast of array of illustrious sons and daughters. Their members of intelligentsia have distinguished themselves wherever they serve. just as their political leaders are titans of the game in their own right. 

To prove this fact , here is one of their prominent son Professor Shima Igyôr. 

Professor Shima IGyor is known as the first medical doctor in Tiv land , he was born as Shima Kaimon Igyôr on the 5th, August 1937 and hails from Shôrov, Buruku Local Government Of Benue State. 

He is A Tiv by tribe and divorced with three children.

            Education

Started school at Gboko Central School (1945- 1951),

obtained his Senior School Certificate at

Middle Belt School (1951-1952)

,Government College Keffi (1953-1958)

City of Bath Tech. College (1959-1961) and proceeded to

Durham University (1962-1966)

             Career

Proff is was a Consultant Surgeon at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, in 1974,

Civil Commissioner, Benue State Executive Council, (1976-1979)

Head, Surgical Unit, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Kaduna, (1979-1985)

Deputy Chairman, Hospital Management Committee, Kaduna, (1983-1985)

Chief Medical Director, University of Jos Teaching Hospital, 1985.
